The Level Zero System

Built On Science.
Built To A Standard.

Every customer-facing asset fails or succeeds based on five questions a visitor's brain asks in under five seconds. The Level Zero Framework is the Level Zero System that measures how well any site answers all five — across 30 specific structural criteria.

Built on peer-reviewed behavioral science. Applied to the specific context of a customer-facing asset being found through a vehicle, a search, or a referral.

The Core Premise

Every Visitor Asks
Five Questions In Milliseconds.

The decision is not conscious. It is not rational. It operates through System One — Daniel Kahneman's fast, automatic, pattern-recognition processing that runs below the threshold of awareness.

Question 01

Do I know what this is?

Immediate comprehension. Does the structure communicate the offer before the visitor reads a single word?

Question 02

Is this for someone like me?

Prospect identification. Qualified visitors self-select in. Unqualified visitors self-select out. Vague language fails both.

Question 03

Do I trust the entity behind this?

Trust formation. The most complex behavioral challenge. Seven criteria because trust failure is the most common conversion killer.

Question 04

Do I know what to do next?

Conversion pathway. The path of least resistance must lead to action. Every obstacle between a ready buyer and a completed action costs revenue.

Question 05

Does this feel safe to engage with?

Presentation integrity. When the visual execution contradicts the verbal claim, the visual wins every time. A trust claim surrounded by structural failures is worse than no trust claim at all.

The Architecture

Five Stages.
Thirty Criteria.

Each stage maps to one of the five System One questions. Failure at any stage ends the evaluation — visitors do not proceed to later stages if earlier ones fail.

01
System One Question 1 + 2
Perception
10 Criteria · Sections A & B

Failure at Stage 1 produces immediate abandonment. Nothing else on the site matters if the visitor leaves in the first five seconds. Every criterion in this stage addresses the structural signals that determine whether a visitor's brain categorizes the asset as relevant or irrelevant within the first moments of contact.

A1 Immediate Value Recognition — The visitor understands what this business does within three seconds, without reading body copy.
A2 Prospect Identification — Qualified visitors self-select in. Unqualified visitors self-select out. Vague audience language fails regardless of everything else.
A3 Offer Definition — The specific deliverable is named clearly before the visitor reaches any CTA. Ambiguity in the offer is the primary driver of CTA abandonment.

02
System One Question 3
Trust
7 Criteria · Section C · Highest Weighted Stage

Seven criteria because trust formation is the most complex behavioral challenge in conversion architecture. A visitor who does not trust will not convert regardless of message clarity or pathway quality. Trust must be established before any commitment is requested — not after. The order in which trust signals appear is evaluated as carefully as whether they appear at all.

C1 Objection Preemption — Primary objections addressed before they are raised. Objections only in FAQ pages score partial — the visitor who abandons before the FAQ never sees them.
C3 Contact Confidence — A real human being is identifiable behind the business. Physical address, working phone, direct email — visible without navigating to a contact page.
C6 Risk Reversal — Specific and unconditional. "We stand behind our work" fails. A named outcome with a named refund condition passes.

03
System One Question 4
Decision
5 Criteria · Section D

The path of least resistance must lead to conversion. Every obstacle between a ready buyer and a completed action costs revenue. Exit recovery architecture is the most consistently missing criterion across every site evaluated — most sites spend enormous resources bringing visitors in and zero resources keeping them when they signal intent to leave.

D1 Friction Mapping — Every step between first contact and completed action evaluated for unnecessary friction. Required account creation, excess form fields, interrupting navigation all score against this criterion.
D5 Exit Recovery Architecture — Structural mechanisms for recovering visitors who signal intent to abandon. Most sites have none. This is the highest-leverage structural addition available.

04
System One Question 5
Presentation
3 Criteria · Section E

When the visual execution contradicts the verbal claim, the visual wins every time. A trust claim surrounded by structural failures is worse than no trust claim at all — because the mismatch itself becomes a System One rejection signal. Presentation integrity is not about aesthetic quality. It is about whether the visual structure is consistent with what the copy claims.

E2 Offer Differentiation — Why this business over any direct competitor. Must be structural, not aspirational. "We put clients first" fails. A named methodology with documented results passes.

05
Execution Reality Layer · Added V3.0
Action
5 Criteria · Section F

A site can score well on every prior stage and still lose 30 to 60 percent of ready buyers at the moment of action itself. Stage 5 was added after consistent observation that high-scoring sites on Stages 1 through 4 still showed significant abandonment at the conversion mechanism itself. The action layer is where intent meets reality.

F1 Conversion Mechanism Integrity — Form, checkout, or contact method functions correctly on every device. Broken forms affect only the visitors most ready to convert — the most expensive failure possible.
F4 Mobile Action Efficiency — Every conversion action executable on mobile without zoom, horizontal scroll, or desktop-level precision. Tested on the smallest screen in the target audience's likely device range.

Why The Framework Is Built This Way

Every Page Is Read
Three Ways At Once.

The 30-point framework is organized around three simultaneous reader types. Miss any one of them and you lose that segment entirely. Every Level Zero Build is structured to serve all three without compromise.

5 SEC
The Scanner — Stage 1 & 2

One Decision.

The scanner isn’t reading. They’re classifying. Is this serious? Is this for me? Is the next step obvious? Stages 1 and 2 of the framework — Immediate Comprehension and Message Clarity — exist entirely to serve this reader. If these 10 criteria aren’t met, the scanner leaves before anything else is evaluated.

30 SEC
The Evaluator — Stage 3

One Framework.

The evaluator passed the scan. Now they want rigorous proof. Stage 3 — Trust and Decision Safety, the highest-weighted section at 4 points per criterion — is built entirely for this reader. Seven criteria covering social proof specificity, authority signals, risk reversal, and objection preemption. Generic copy loses this reader at every paragraph.

2+ MIN
The Deep Verifier — Stages 4 & 5

Every Detail.

Already sold at gut level, building the rational case to commit. Stages 4 and 5 — Presentation Integrity and the Action Layer — handle voice consistency, structural cohesion, price clarity, mobile execution, and post-conversion confidence. If this layer is thin, the verifier stalls. Not because they don’t want to proceed. Because they don’t have what they need to say yes.

The Scoring Scale

What Your Score
Actually Means.

Each criterion is evaluated pass / partial / fail. Stage 2 criteria carry higher individual weighting because trust failure is the most common and most correctable structural deficit. The score is expressed out of 100.

A
90–100
Structurally Sound
B
75–89
Minor Structural Gaps
C
60–74
Moderate Structural Failure
D
45–59
Significant Structural Failure
F
Below 45
Structurally Impaired

Most sites evaluated score between 28 and 54 on first evaluation.

The Economic Gap

The Gap Is Not
Traffic Or Audience.
The Gap Is Structure.

Broken Structure — Score 31/100
0.8–1.2%
Conversion rate on arriving traffic. 10,000 visitors = 80–120 actions. The traffic, the ads, and the audience are all fine. The structure is not.
Corrected Foundation — Score 75+
3–5%
Conversion rate on the same traffic. 10,000 visitors = 300–500 actions. 75% increase in output. No new ad spend. No new traffic. Structure corrected.

The same Level Zero System every site is built against is the standard every delivery is checked against. Before your zip file leaves our hands, every criterion is verified. Every structural failure corrected. You receive a working system — not a draft.

"Most websites look fine. They fail on structural criteria their owners have never heard of. The framework exists to name what is broken — specifically, in order, by revenue impact."
